Description
Haynes Family of Programs S.T.A.R. Academy is a state certified Non-Public Agency (NPA) and provides Behavior Intervention Services through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) treatment for students with autism and special needs. We have a team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). We are seeking experienced ABA-trained aides to join our team to provide ABA services to clients in the home and school settings.
Under the direction and supervision of a BCBA, implement evidence-based practices using ABA methods designed to assist clients with attaining their goals. Experience with naturalistic teaching strategies (NATS), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), discrete trial teaching (DTT), and various data collection measures required. Experience with the principles of Verbal Behavior (VB) and parent training desirable.
Under direction and supervision of BCBA, implement behavior intervention plan and programming to assist client with attaining goals.
Understand students behavior goals in IEP and implement programs to target these goals.
Understand and implement Behavior Intervention Plan, as mandated in students IEP.
Collect data in vivo for all targets; track target behavior and replacement behavior.
In the home setting facilitate parent participation in sessions; model interventions, and collect data
Increase occurrence of replacement behavior and acquisition rate of skills utilizing positive reinforcement strategies
Manage behavior utilizing antecedent- and consequent-based interventions as they occur in the natural environment
Follow agency policies and procedures
Provide regular feedback to BCBA regarding client progress or concerns
Experience with aggressive, self-injurious, and self-stimulatory behavior
Certification in approved Crisis Intervention (ex: CPI)
Knowledgeable of the functions of behavior; accurately collect ABC data
Understand the rationale for interventions and data collection
Maintain logbook/documents, session materials, and stimuli
Assist BCBA with stimuli development (ex: token boards, visual supports)
Regularly perform preference assessments
Enter data into secured database after each session
Provide services in accordance with the BACBs Professional and Ethical Compliance Code
Attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Associates Degree in Psychology or related field (or) 1 Year of experience preferred
- Prior experience working with children with disabilities
- Excellent counseling/interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of crisis intervention skills and the medical and emergency procedures.
- Strong leadership skills to assist staff in a professional manner
- A working knowledge of age appropriate behavior for children/adolescents
- Ability to communicate at the comprehension levels of children
- Ability to model positive behaviors and school values
- Physical ability to participate in restraining students as per school/agency policy
