Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offer a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient Behavioral Health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Job Summary:
Participates and oversees all aspects of the administration of the school to ensure its continued, effective operation. As part of the School Management team, the Administrator participates in strategic planning for the school and the hospital. Reports to the Director of Schools.
- Manages day to day operations of school programs, including the provision of adequate resources, meeting regulatory standards, providing mandatory training, coordinating admissions and providing for the effective implementation of the Individualized Education Plans in order to meet all mandates of the CT Dept. of Education and any other relevant state and federal regulating bodies.
- Demonstrates knowledge and support of the mission statement and the strategic plan of the school by assessing, developing, evaluating and making revisions to new and present school programs.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field required
- Certification as an Intermediate Administrator and Supervisor (092) and certification in Comprehensive Special Education (065) or related certification required
- At least 3 years’ experience teaching Special Education students or Special Education Administration required
- At least 2 years’ experience in education with some administrative responsibility required
- Demonstrated critical thinking and sound decision-making skills
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership and teambuilding skills required
