JOB SUMMARY:
The scheduler coordinator arranges for the efficient and orderlyscheduling of procedures ordered by the physician; coordinates schedules with physicians and facilities, prepares and completes all necessary patient consent forms, hospital orders, obtains doctor’s signatures, and works closely with authorization specialist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduling Coordinator
1. Responsible for scheduling and rescheduling patients for upcoming procedures per provider orders or requests.
2. Responsible for preparing all necessary patient consent forms, hospital orders, obtaining doctor’s signatures, faxing completed orders to requested facility.
3. Responsible for coordinating schedules with physicians, other assists, and facilities.
4. Demonstrates knowledge of clinic and procedure scheduling for each provider.
5. Communicates appropriately and clearly with the providers, patients, supervisors, clinic and facility staff.
6. Verifies insurance coverage and routes to authorization specialist.
7. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
8. Demonstrates ability to multitask efficiently.
9. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records.
10. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
11. Completes annual educational requirements, and attends other meetings as required, accepts and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
12. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
13. Maintains accurate time clock punches, punch in and out according to hospital policy.
14. Answers incoming calls to the facility in a professional, timely manner.
15. Accepts and completes other duties assigned or requested.

Education/Certification: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience: At least three months gastroenterology or other clinical related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic Medical Terminology preferred.
Equipment/Technology: Ability to use hospital information system, and operate basic computer functions and software, and fax/copier/scanners.
Language/Communication: Demonstrates great ability to communicate effectively with providers, management, staff, and patients. Ability to read and interpret documents such as clinical notes and physician orders, as well as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to patients, their families, referring offices, insurance companies, diagnostic facilities, surgical facilities via phone, fax, computerized ordering systems and in person.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Interpersonal: Ability to work well with others.
Mental Capabilities: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Employee must possess the ability to calmly and efficiently deal with problems
