Saw Operator 2Nd Shift

Primary Objective: Supports production operations by operating saws while meeting or exceeding standards of quality, productivity and safety. This position works under minimal to moderate supervision.

Key Job Duties:

1. Operates battery of saws to perform such operations as rip sawing, cross cutting, beveling, grooving and mitering.
2. Lays out, positions, aligns and secures material, parts or assemblies prior to sawing.
3. Selects sawing disk blade according to type of cut specified on work order and bolts disk to machine shaft.
4. Raises, lowers or tips table to specified angle according to depth of cut specifications.
5. Measures finished product to verify dimension and examines for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.
6. Replaces worn or damaged saw blades using hand tools.
7. Cuts metal, drills holes, sharpens, shines metals and removes all sharp edges.
8. Reads and interprets technical drawings, blueprints and other specifications.
9. May operate drill presses, grinders, metal lathes and a variety of hand tools.
10. Uses basic mathematic skills to solve problems pertaining to sawing functions.
11. Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
12. Maintains records as needed.
13. Assist in training other Saw Operators.
14. Assists in other areas and performs additional tasks as needed.
15. Maintains material in orderly fashion notifying supervisor when a material is out of stock or unavailable.
16. Participates and contributes to Massman's lean manufacturing journey.
