Perform duties to set up and operate a large, automated line of processing equipment to manufacture various types of resin-coated friction materials.
Work from Ross 1 operator instructions, slitter recipes, production schedule, crush test specifications, computerized equipment readout screens, and instructions:
Determine material needs for new job set up and move raw paper material from receiving to the production area, log required data, prepare scrap report and product log, and cut and measure samples of material for thickness dimension. Setup paper roll on traverse unit, insert shaft, line up with unwinder, splice in a roll on the press, and set squeeze gap according to the specification sheet. Input required data into machine-programmed controls to start operations and prepare a set-up validation sheet. Start-up equipment, monitor airflow, hydrometer, and temperature gauges for required settings, and adjust equipment as necessary to control product quality. Monitor computerized equipment control screens, to check material specifications in process and make equipment adjustments as needed. Monitor material throughout all line processing operations, troubleshoot material or equipment problems, and take corrective action. Prepare a scrap log report at the end of the run. Cut out samples at the beginning of the roll, measure thickness, and maintain on file with initial samples. Prepare a scrap log at the end of the run. Notify the Team Leader/Facilitator of unusual equipment or operating problems.
Use a forklift truck, tape measure, scale, personal computer, computer printer, micrometer, tape measure, hydraulic press, manual staking press, and hand tools.
Follow safety rules and keep the work area in clean and orderly condition.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
