Overall Responsibility

The primary purpose of the Sanitation Manager is to ensure that the quality of products and procedures are governed by a culture of continuous improvement. The Sanitation Manager implements and maintains Food Safety and Sanitation & Hygiene Programs in conjunction with federal, state, and private certification agencies (AIB, HACCP Written Programs), (AIB Appendix B). The Sanitation Manager will ensure that the Sanitation process is complete, timely, and in accordance with FDA, HACCP, Diana’s Bakery policy and procedures; and federal, state, and local guidelines and laws. This position will also be responsible for supporting Diana’s Bakery hygiene programs and systems by creating SSOPs, processing SOPs, and supporting ongoing audit activities through the identification of audit issues, the implementation of solutions to those issues, and by providing training to the affected positions.

Core Job Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

· The Sanitation Manager will be responsible for developing working schedules for use by the Sanitation Departments that govern standard sanitation practices for Diana’s Bakery Facilities and Equipment, assuring maximum sanitation and productivity.

· The Sanitation Manager will implement timelines that are based on SQF, Food Safety, Product Quality, and other organizational and governmental criteria, and provide associated data that support required results.

· Will work with the Maintenance Manager, Equipment Technicians, and the Production Manager, on equipment literature. The Sanitation Manager will develop SSOPs that include required cleaning and maintenance schedules.

· Supply training and documentation to employees regarding the introduction of new sanitation and hygiene practices, thereby ensuring continuous improvement in all sanitation and production practices and ongoing employee development.

· Responsible for the selection and development of all Sanitation employees, ensuring that the department has the necessary resources to maintain safe and properly sanitized facilities and equipment. Ensure that Sanitation employees have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform at a level that exceeds expectations.

· Document and implement the required Food Safety and Operational Hygiene programs required for success in the food industry. Ensure that all practices required by federal, state, and local agencies are in full compliance while creating a constant state of readiness for any audits that our customers or agencies may require.

· Improve readiness and preparedness systems that lead to troubleshooting, root cause analysis and implementation of practices that eliminate organizational failures.

· All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements

· Good interpersonal communication and leadership skills and works well in a team environment.

· Systematic Thinking:

o Adopt a well-ordered approach to planning, make fact-based decisions, develop detailed plans and implement milestones to promote continuous growth.

o Implement programs designed to improve food safety and plant and distribution hygiene while minimizing costs. Must be able to understand the ramifications of their actions and create implementation plans that will move new programs forward and create buy-ins.

o Approach problems which must be overcome, through problem analysis, critical thinking, identification of the appropriate next steps, and immediate follow-through of those steps.

· Manage Change:

o Establish a focused, communicable, and measurable agenda for the changes that are required to improve operational performance and the tactical maneuvers it requires.

o Responsible for driving a great deal of organizational change to a wide audience with varying languages and capabilities. To that point, the vision/mission will have to be clear, shared, and agreed upon with ownership, succinctly communicated to management, and associated measurements defined and generated to assure compliance and continuous alignment with the company’s plan.

· Leverage Organizational Capabilities:

o Exhibit a broad organizational perspective, bringing together plantwide resources to better serve the needs of customers.

o Will work with a variety of disciplines and professional resources as they begin to prioritize organizational efforts to ensure proper sanitation and utilize their individual capabilities to develop and implement a variety of new programs that help ensure product safety.

· Shape Creative Solutions:

o Continuously conduct a search for new or better solutions to meet customers’ needs and internal business processes in order to support financial growth for the company.

o Administer programs designed to increase hygiene, while improving quality and production output throughout the manufacturing process. To that end, this position must be able to see deficiencies in the sanitation and maintenance processes and work with the respective departmental managers and supervisors to create new and improved programs that will support a safer environment for food production and distribution as well as enhanced maintenance practices throughout Diana’s Bakery.

· Results Orientation:

o Focus on job accomplishments with a clear sense of what needs to be done and focus projects and people toward those specific ends. Develop formats that automatically hold them accountable for results.

o Based on data from programs that are initiated in Sanitation, Quality, and Production, the Sanitation Manager must be able to help clearly identify desired outcomes for various departments, influence direction, and maintain the appropriate data to support ongoing improvement.

o Ensure exceptional audit scores, track adherence to schedules and plans, and identify and track milestones. Plans must be clearly thought out, communicated, and performance tracked to assure that the primary objectives of the business, the customers, and this position are met and exceeded.

o Responsible for identifying facility sanitation & hygiene requirements that are consistently audited and tracked for improvement.

· Propensity for Action:

o Act decisively and deliberately, constantly driving self, peers, and occasionally managers to excel.

o Must drive their staff and associated department managers to improve overall food safety and the quality of the equipment and the facilities through ongoing sanitation programs, training, and development.

Qualifications:

Minimum: Previous experience in Sanitation work, Food Safety, MSDS/Right to Know, OSHA Compliance, pest control, and prior management experience with strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Experience in manufacturing a plus.
