General Summary

This position works under limited direction and is primarily responsible for supporting the Animal Health Account Managers with a number of key existing accounts and be expected to drive business with new accounts in the process. It would also include sampling of silage,TMR, and manure. This position ideally will be located near Omaha, Nebraska and will travel to customer sites in Nebraska and Iowa.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (* = Essential Functions)
  1. * Conducts bi-weekly customer calls.
  2. * Works collaboratively with Nutritionists regarding changes in consumption or ration.
  3. *Reviews and analyzes usage and feed production records to insure accurate application of Bovamine and Bovamine Defend.
  4. * Maintains controller report (CAVCO, BAVCO, PLC units). Downloads or reviews history and checks variances and PLC calibrations and makes necessary adjustments.
  5. * Manages product inventory and usage. Calculates expected vs. actual usage and delivers appropriate products.
  6. Taking samples (forage, manure, water, etc.), when needed.
  7. Collecting data for the Nutrient Scorecard. This can also be described as helping a customer to measure their KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), such as:
    1. packing density,
    2. visual evaluations (illustrated with photographs),
    3. thermal imaging,
    4. length of cut
    5. kernel processing score
    6. dry matter content
    7. forage, feed, and TMR particle size
    8. fecal particle evaluation
    9. submitting samples for fermentation analysis, hygiene analysis and/or other metrics.
    10. evaluation of aerobic stability of forages and TMR using remote temperature sensors
    11. evaluation of fermentation performance by measuring temperature change over time in ensiled forages.
  8. Taking forage inventories (possibly with the use of drone technology in the future).
    1. Assist customers with inventory control, planning for future needs.
    2. Mapping out silage piles and storage structures for optimal size for the operation.
  9. On farm camera installation and collection of time lapse video of feed lanes, (or other targeted areas) in order to observe feeding management and cow behavior to find opportunities for improvement.
  10. On farm heat stress monitoring (respiration rates, THI, body temperature, etc.) in summer months in order to show the level and effect of heat stress and probiotic effects on the mitigation of heat stress.
  11. Maintains equipment: freezer, vinyl hopper, machine and tank, water filter, air compressor. This will include silage inoculant applicators and High moisture coen applicators.
  12. Troubleshoots equipment and handles complaint investigations.
  13. Makes ration changes in controllers when specified by customers Nutritionist. (third party ingrediants figured by customer or their Nutritionist.) Follow SOP provided on this.
  14. Completes call reports and maintains specific call details in planner.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  1. Must have technical skills to know the right questions to ask of customers.
  2. Must be a self-starter with drive and initiative and work with little supervision.
  3. Must have a passion for the animal health industry.
  4. Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.
  5. Possess a valid driver's license.
  6. Ability to travel up to 80% of working time. Over night travel could be 50%
  7. These characteristics are normally acquired through an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in an agricultural science field or related field.


Working Conditions

Working environment is a home office setting about 20% of time and car and/or air travel about 80% of time (this could vary depending on territory). This position requires a valid driver's license and good driving record. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job. Could include overnight stay up to 50% of the time if necessary.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 65 lbs. Equipment that will be handled by the employee should not exceed 100 lbs. If the case of pallets or heavy equipment, forklifts will be used. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
