Overview:
This position is an integral part of the Sales Planning and Forecasting department. This position requires extensive knowledge of demand planning in a seasonal business. Must have experience with demand planning software and familiar with how system generated, statistical forecasting works. Responsible for the team’s bottom up forecast and ensures it aligns with the company’s top down high level forecast. The Sales Planning & Forecasting aManager will manage/mentor a staff of planners and collaborate closely with various departments including Buying, Brand, and Sales.
Position works a hybrid schedule, 3 days in office/2 days remotely, and works in the Gear For Sports office in Lenexa, KS.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing the demand plan for all brands.
- Mentor, support, and direct a staff of planners.
- Be the in-house expert in the Demand Planning Pyramid within the Logility planning software.
- Develop processes and procedures used within the department so that there is consistency with how the planners perform their job functions.
- Review and approve forecasts with planners prior to the purchase cycle.
- Work with planners to determine the right type of forecasting approach based on the item.
- Collaborate closely with brand and sales teams to ensure all market knowledge is incorporated into the demand plan.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop a safety stock approach to achieve desired inventory levels.
- Report on key metrics including forecast accuracy and in stock
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree preferred plus minimum 5 years of planning experience or 12 years of planning experience.
- Extensive knowledge of how demand planning software packages work.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work with various levels of management.
- Must possess strong computer skills; advanced user of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
