Position Summary
The Sales Manager works under the direction of the Director of Sales and General Manager to grow top line revenue in his/her market segment through proactive and direct selling. His or her responsibilities are to increase hotel awareness and direct sales efforts in the market place, while affectively servicing current group and transient accounts in the market segment assigned and following the guidance of the Director of Sales and the Kana Corporate Sales Team.
Primary Responsibilities
• Consistent telemarketing and prospecting of appropriate accounts and market segments
• Handle guest requests and client requests as they arise
• Use professional judgment, discretion and parameters set forth when quoting rates and contract clauses
• Assistance in the set up and servicing of meetings and in house guests, group and transient (as needed)
• Participate in daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
• Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings
• Keeps abreast of budgeted revenue goals and assists in putting together plans and actions or originates and generates business when needed.
• Develop/maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
• Adhere to Kana Hotel Group sales call requirements, to include but not limited to site inspections, outside appointments, tele-prospecting and solicitation
• Assistance with the forecasting of special events, citywide conventions
• Typing of written correspondence such as thank you letters after a group or meeting departs
• Assist the Director of Sales with weekly and monthly reports, as needed
• Attended any necessary classes to improve skill set
• Assistance in working any booth for trade show purposes, wedding showcase, bridal fair etc.
• Other duties as requested or assigned
Requirements:
Education/Experience
• Minimum of 1-3 years hotel experience
• High school diploma required/ some college a plus
• Attention to detail
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Computer experience, Microsoft word, excel, proactive planning, anticipates situations, ability to follow directions
Physical Requirements
• Sitting for long periods of time during shift
• Use of keyboard and telephone throughout shift
• Some bending, lifting, and carrying
