Sales Engineer
Reports To: Director of Inside Sales
Department: Sales Engineering
Purpose of Position:
The individual will assist the inside sales department to maintain and strengthen the relationship with our customers. They will manage all aspects of an order during its life cycle both internally and externally.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Quotations
· Prepare on-time, competitive and accurate quotes for company’s representation network.
· Decipher customer’s requirements by reviewing the quote request documentation and project plans, which includes determining if any product restrictions exist or if there are any modified or custom requests.
· Interpret Reflected Ceiling Plans (RCPs) and perform accurate take-offs as required to determine accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs).
· Proactively manage changes in project scope by identifying potential challenges, recommending appropriate solutions, and determining the cost impact.
· Provide product selection advice to meet the needs of lighting designers, architects, engineers, distributors, and electrical contractors.
· Provide alternate solutions to competitive products and recommend options on value engineered projects. o Negotiate pricing on competitive bids and consider all aspects of selling, including customer and lighting agent relationship, profit and loss concepts and short- and long-term goals of the company.
Inside Sales/Project Management
· Create and cultivate relationships with lighting agencies quote teams and manager.
· Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or changes.
· Prepare and submit project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and final project closeout documents.
· Understanding of relevant processes, policies, work instructions
· Possess or develop the ability to present yourself in a professional manner in all forms of communication including written, phone, conference call or in person.
· Negotiating or resolving issues that might include commission rates, billing challenges, shipping issues and warranty problems.
Engineering
· Design custom parts using Solid Works
· Troubleshooting post sales issues
· Create product support documentation, including, but not limited to assembly instructions, production instructions, controls, and process specification.
· Work with Sales (inside and outside) on product specific questions/training including technical conference calls and Ongoing internal trainings
· Develop a thorough understanding of all product lines and features through hands on the job training.
o Develop excellent project management skills through OJT or classroom learning.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
· Flex in other areas within customer service and be willing to flex or backup in other departments.
· Other Duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
· Degree in Mechanical Engineering (0-3 years of professional experience) or experience in a parallel technical field
· SolidWorks experience or equivalent software (1-2 internships a bonus)
· Basic 2D CAD experience (1-3 experience)
· Basic Adobe Suite experience (1-3 experience)
· Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
· Ability to effectively manage time/responsibilities.
Working Conditions:
o Office Environment with 75%+ being on the computer. This job is 100% in the office.
o Operates computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, stapler, 3-hole punch, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
o Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
o Occasional travel
o Occasional work in the manufacturing plant
Plant Conditions:
o May be exposed to heat/cold as typical in a warehouse setting.
o Loud fans and machinery are present.
o Safety equipment will be worn when necessary.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
