Job Description
PURPOSE/SCOPE:
Perform business development, commercial management, and technical evaluation activities in support of the Trans-Matic account managers and sales directors in pursuit of Trans-Matic's strategic and business objectives. Perform account management responsibilities on house accounts. Provide a conduit of information and communication between internal and external stakeholders.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Sales Engineer will assist Account Managers with customer activities including:
- External communication such as product quoting, customer forms, cost breakdowns, and follow up business development activities.
- Coordination and resolution of select customer driven requests and projects.
- Internal communication of account activities with engineering, production, purchasing, program management, quality, and management.
- Participating on both internal and external project teams.
- Coordinating all internal technical review activities.
- Leadership and resolution of lower-level commercial issues as assigned by account manager.
- Sales Engineer activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Initiating and supporting timely quotation of new customer RFQ’s, including gathering necessary product information, business information, and clarifying technical requirements.
- Conducting account management responsibilities for house accounts.
- Entering new projects into Trans-Matic’s PLEX modules.
- Conducting market research activities.
- Supporting updates about Trans-Matic to social media sites (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Google).
- Maintaining a database for industry trade shows, including managing exhibits and literature, and attending select trade shows on behalf of Trans-Matic along with other sales colleagues.
- Assisting the Account Managers as a primary back-up when the Account Manager is out of the office.
- Fielding initial sales calls and internet inquiries.
- Leading cost reduction or VAVE activities for existing business.
- Supporting program managers with product launch activities.
- Collecting and reporting on pertinent sales department metrics and activities.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Engineering or a similar Technical Degree.
- Working knowledge of Part Prints and GD&T.
- Working knowledge of key product characteristics and quality measurement techniques.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
- The ability to conceptualize and articulate complex technical information to others.
- A basic knowledge base of typical manufacturing processes and a strong desire to enhance knowledge.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with IATF16949, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and the new business launch process.
- Working knowledge of statistical process controls.
- Automotive technical experience.
- Tool or Part Design experience.
- Metal stamping / assembly / manufacturing processes experience.
- Quoting process experience.
- Account Management experience.
- Commercial Business Case Development experience.
