Position Overview:
The Sales Director is responsible for the strategic plan, achievement of volume and profit objectives, budgets, and retail execution for the Target, Meijer, and Specialty Food Distributor team within the US Consumer Products Division. This position manages all facets of sales responsibilities and customer interaction for the entire McCormick portfolio of business. This individual will be a results-driven leader who demonstrates high integrity and ownership of their business, supports & develops personnel and drives the McCormick culture & values. The successful candidate will need to live within thefollowing Markets: Minneapolis, MN. Chicago, IL, Grand Rapids, MI or Cincinnati, OH.
Key Responsibilities:
Operating responsibilities include developing and delivering customer level business plans, coordinating effective utilization of cross functional resources, including Sales Planning, Marketing, Supply Chain, Category Management and Revenue Management. The Sales Director manages the interface at the senior and mid management level of the customer, tracks Key Performance Indicators and proactively drives business development and recovery. This role will manage multiple salespeople / direct reports by coaching, mentoring and fostering teamwork and results focus. This individual will be responsible for monitoring and controlling trade spending and SG&A spending.
Requirements & required capabilities include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, Marketing, Management or related field.
MBA preferred. - 10+ years direct Sales/Broker management experience within CPG. Food experience preferred; experience within sales planning or strategic role a plus.
- 2 years proven success in executive level customer sales.
- Demonstrated success in key assignments, critical management competencies, leadership and business impact for comparable sized buisness with multiple direct reports.
- Ability to Negotiate and resolve conflict while maintaining high integrity.
- Ability to attract, retain and develop people.
