Job description

Under the direction of the Site Management, we are seeking a Safety Training Coordinator to join our Camp Services & Facility Maintenance department located near Delta Junction, AK. The Safety Training Coordinator oversees the coordination and implementation of HSEQ of all site operations. They work to prevent incidents, injuries, and property damage and adhere to all OSHA and MSHA legislation, Federal & State Environmental legislation, Food Safety, HACCP, and ISO Certification governances. The Camp service industry is one of hospitality and includes cleaning, sanitation, food service, facility maintenance, and, in some cases, construction activities.

  • Working on a rotational basis of 3 weeks on/3weeks off.
  • All meals and accommodation are provided.
  • Travel provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead team and trend all aspects of the corporate and lodge HSEQ programs, including Corporate Safety initiatives, BBS and Near Miss Observation behaviors, orientation, coordinating training, case management, inspections, incident investigation, corrective actions, and reporting
  • Anticipate HSEQ issues and take corrective actions to resolve.
  • Recognize safe behaviors that contribute to a total safety culture.
  • Responsible for compiling and preparing reports of performance data, HSE system requirements, and other requested reports from the Head Office
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and health policies, programs, and procedures
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence to the company safety requirements by all site personnel
  • Ensure that investigations into injuries, incidents, and unsafe acts and conditions are properly conducted, causal analysis identified, and appropriate corrective actions implemented.
  • Conduct health, safety, environmental, and quality audits.
  • Manage operational risks through qualitative risk assessment tools such as Fault Tree Analysis.
  • Conduct mentoring training and provide presentations to work crews and management on safe work practices and hazard assessment.
  • Assisted in developing, analyzing, and testing the facility Emergency Response Plan, including periodic fire drills and tabletop exercises.
  • Mentor site personnel by providing instruction and direction to ensure a positive quantitative and qualitative performance is achieved.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Required HSE certifications (CSP or NASP or similar) from a recognized institution
  • Industry experience, post-secondary certification or advanced technical training in a related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • Full knowledge of OSHA legislation and each State related Safety requirements.
  • Food safety knowledge, including recognized Food safety certificate
  • QA/QC certifications or experience is an asset.
  • ISO 9001:2015 experience or experience building a quality management systems
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in Occupational safety
  • Coach and mentor relevant departmental managers, supervisors, workers, and contractors on legislative requirements as they relate to Critical Tasks
  • Capability to train, mentor, coach, and guide performance
  • Can work independently with limited direction; utilize latitude in an educated approach in determining objectives and approaches to assignments in reaching goals.
