Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager, we are seeking a Safety Specialist to help plan, implement, and coordinate health and safety programs across all business locations in California. You will help lead, motivate, and foster a safety-conscious culture in the workplace to reduce accidents and injuries. The Safety Specialist is expected to coordinate and manage the day-to-day activities related to meeting all safety and health standards established by applicable regulation, as well as policies and procedures established internally.
The ideal candidate will be a floor-oriented, people person who knows safety, OSHA, and CAL OSHA, and enjoys working with people to make a safety program come alive. They will have the patience and commitment to work “hands on” to help the entire team understand the company's commitment to safety and the need to follow the safety programs.
Job Functions & Core Responsibilities:
- Assist with implementation of process safety programs to reduce team member exposure to workplace hazards.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance (OSHA & CAL OSHA).
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational illnesses to determine root cause and preventive measures.
- Interface daily with hourly and salaried Team Members to promote safety programs and accident prevention.
- Review and report findings from accident investigations, facility inspections, or safety observations.
- Conduct hazard assessments / Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and review existing JSA's for adequacy.
- Assist with reviewing, revising, and developing safety programs and policies.
- Conduct or coordinate safety training in areas such as OSHA & CAL OSHA regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment. This includes safety training for new hire orientation, ongoing re-training, and compliance training.
- Partner with Operations team to interpret safety regulations and policies.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational injuries and illnesses.
- When required, lead safety committee to promote safe work practices and continuous learning.

Education/Experience & Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- 2-3 years of experience as a safety professional in a manufacturing industry required.
- 4-5 years of experience as a safety professional in a manufacturing industry preferred.
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred.
- Associate Safety Professional preferred.
- Specific visual abilities, including the ability to differentiate between and among various shades on the color spectrum.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed indoors in an office setting. Time will be spent in manufacturing and warehouse setting with exposure to cold, heat, noise, and moving machines/equipment.
