Join our employee-owned and award-winning company in a crucial role as our Safety Specialist! In this role, you are responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and regulations to promote a safe working environment at construction sites and in the office. This position collaborates with project teams and clients to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops and implements safety programs, policies, and procedures for construction projects.
- Conducts regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provides safety training and orientation for new employees and contractors.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborates with project teams to develop and maintain emergency responses plans.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives.
- Stays current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to construction safety.
- Conducts job hazard analyses (JHAs) and develops control measures to mitigate risks.
- Coordinates with regulatory agencies and participates in inspections and audits, as necessary.
- Provides guidance and support to project managers and supervision on safety-related issues.
- May interface with clients and/or client representatives to ensure safety adherence.
- May support and/or lead safety initiatives as assigned by the Risk Control Manager.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, occupational health and safety, environmental sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
- OSHA 30 Certification within ninety days of employment start date required.
Experience/Knowledge
- Experience in safety management with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards strongly desired.
- Experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Proficiency using safety management software and tools.

- Ability to perform in a dynamic work environment characterized by changing working and weather conditions indicative of a construction site. This may involve exposure to various environmental conditions and hazards.
- Ability to sit or stand in place, or walk for extended periods of time; reach, climb, or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift/move items up to twenty-five pounds.
