Job description

This position establishes and manages the safety program necessary for workplace safety, including compliance with applicable safety regulations and client safety requirements. The Safety Officer works with the company leadership team and safety committee to achieve a positive safety culture and minimize risk to employee health and safety. The Safety Officer also provides consulting services to CAI clients to establish, improve, or administer safety programs in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting.
This is a global role that will oversee the safety program covering US and international projects. While expertise in all international safety regulations is not required, the candidate should possess the ability to quickly understand non-US safety regulations and assist local teams with the necessary safety programs.
This job will require the following related to administering the CAI safety Program:
       Maintain the CAI safety program to ensure CAI complies will applicable safety regulations. This includes international safety regulations where we conduct business.
       Establish and maintain a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
       Communicate safety information regularly to the organization in a highly professional and effective manner.
       Implement a risk-based approach to safety management, consider non-safety related factors, and balance practicalities with safety measures.
       Investigate safety incidents, perform root cause analysis, establish corrective and preventive actions, monitor for trends.
       Establish and maintain safety training content.
       Chair the safety committee. Develop and leverage the safety committee within the safety program.
       Administer regular site safety reviews (audits). This includes delegating reviews to the safety committee or others AND conducting reviews of select projects.
       Support project safety management needs in the way of planning, consulting, etc.
       Review CAI subcontractor safety programs as part of subcontractor approval.
       Maintain and administer the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) program.
       Maintain reporting information as required by regulation.
       Complete safety audit information required by CAI clients and their third-party auditors.
       We expect the responsibilities above will comprise approximately 80% of the duties on average.
 
This job will require an average of one day per week billing EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) consulting services to our clients:
       Perform audits of client EHS programs and facilities and recommending improvements and corrective actions.
       Provide EHS related technical guidance and code interpretation for facility design and construction.
       Complete EHS regulatory assessments of client operations.
       Develop EHS programs.
       Support clients with EHS related permitting for facilities.
       Understand Process Safety Management and provide related consulting such as program implementation and/or process hazard analyses.
       Assist our field operations teams with marketing and selling our EHS consulting services.
 
Position Requirements:
BS in a science, engineering, or occupational/environmental health and safety related field or equivalent years of experience. Professional certification such as ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM is considered a plus.
5-10 years' experience in occupational or environmental health and safety.
 
The candidate MUST have experience in one or more of the following settings, including developing EHS programs in one of these settings: manufacturing facilities, construction of manufacturing facilities, or laboratories. Experience in safety management in pharmaceutical, food and beverage, or chemical manufacturing is a plus. Additionally,
 
       Excellent oral and written English is required.
       Able to travel domestically and internationally if required.
       Able to work (paid) overtime.
       Able to work in the US without sponsorship now or any time or in the future.
       Possess a strong interest or willingness to actively promote and sell our EHS consulting services.
 
The candidate must be located within one hour of an international airport in the continental US.

Benefits
Our full-time positions offer competitive compensation and benefits which include up to 15% retirement contribution, 24 days PTO and five (5) sick days per year, health insurance at extremely low cost to employee, financial support for both internal and external professional education as well as 70% long term disability paid for by the company.
$115,000 - $140,000 a year
Average salary range, not including benefits or compensatory time and possible discretionary bonuses.
