Job Summary

LTHC is seeking a part-time Security person for the center. LTHC provides services to those experiencing hunger and homelessness.

Shifts are from 3p-11p

Security is key in helping the center services function by assisting the Program Director in facilitating shelter operations and ensuring accessibility and safety for the people that enter our doors every day. De-escalation is essential in this role, so applicants must be good at helping people calm down and feel safe.

This position plays a vital role in welcoming guests to our organization and its programs and in setting the tone for our low-barrier, drop-in center. Responsibilities include overseeing guests, de-escalating conflict, collaborating with other staff, documenting data, and following policies and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Experience working with marginalized populations. Essential skills include a passion for helping people experiencing homelessness, ability to set boundaries and maintain professionalism, conflict resolution skills, strong de-escalation skills and excellent communication skills. Must be detail oriented and have a demonstrated ability to lead and influence as part of a team. Proficiency with computers and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities is also essential.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands Include: Ability to be on your feet at least 85% of the day, the occasional moving of objects up to 50 pounds, constant moving about to accomplish tasks and moving from one workstation to another, constant communication with others to exchange information in a noisy environment, and daily exposure to outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.

Job Duties:

· Monitor the behavior of the guests at LTHC.

· Contribute to a safe, dignified, respectful atmosphere by enforcing program rules, policies, and procedures.

· Ensure that all persons on the property are enrolled in LTHC services.

· Monitor vehicle traffic entering and leaving properties.

· Ensure that all safety policies and procedures are upheld and followed.

· Communicate regularly with Shelter staff regarding suspicious activity.

· Educate staff and guests on safety procedures.

· Consult with supervisor on needed changes or additions to safety procedures.

· Monitor security cameras to ensure guest safety.

· Contribute to a safe, dignified, respectful atmosphere by enforcing program rules, policies, and procedures in a kind and respectful way.

· Conduct regular rounds of facility and interact with clients in a positive manner.

· Be aware of extreme changes in guest behavior that could result in the need to intervene.

· Provide any necessary proactive crisis interventions.

· Identify and ensure proper and timely documentation/notification of any safety concerns, emergencies, situations or general maintenance needs of the facility and grounds to ensure compliance with any and all safety, regulatory and health standards.
