The Safety Officer (SO) is responsible for providing safety, security, and training services to servants, staff, and visitors at Calvary Church campuses. The SO is also expected to identify, and evaluate security issues and to provide quality solutions in order to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Requirements
• Highly motivated and places God first.
• Must be available to work days, nights, and weekends as needed. This position would be 1530-2130 and some weekends for training / events.
• Patrol campus nightly, lock and arm buildings, escort congregants as needed.
• Cross train with other shifts, CRT, and safety and security teams.
• Must attend Calvary Church.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• High School Diploma / GED. College a plus but not necessary.
• Must have Law Enforcement, Firefighter, Military or Security experience.
• Must have experience as an instructor or trainer (preferably with safety and security training).
• Must not have been arrested on any felony charges.
• Must pass a background check.
• No arrests for Crimes of Moral Turpitude in the last 20 years.
• No DWIs or Domestic Violence arrests in the last 10 years.
• Must be physically fit and able to stand and walk for long hours at a time.
• Must be able to bend and lift 50 pounds.
• Basic computer, PowerPoint presentation, and report writing knowledge and skills is required.
• Must have a reliable smartphone.
Responsibilities
• Be CPR/First Aid certified within one year and capable of responding to all medical emergencies and provide basic life support. Contact 911 if needed.
• Be familiar with de-escalation techniques and utilize minimal use of force.
• This position requires working at Calvary Church Osuna, Santa Fe, and Westside campuses as needed.
• Work as a liaison with Police and Fire Departments on all emergencies.
• Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by the Safety and Security Director and Calvary Church.
• Complete all required reports and learn basic knowledge of camera software.
• Be able to complete all job task analysis and required training.
• Perform all other related tasks and duties as assigned.
Physical requirements:
• Sufficient stamina to perform all essential job functions and training (Defensive Tactics, Firearms Qualifications, etc.) for a normal shift and up to a 16-hour shift in an emergency.
• Ability to walk the campus, climb stairs, and assist or carry a disabled, ill, or injured person.
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
• Sufficient strength and flexibility for stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, carrying, and other movements.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to understand and process all required paperwork and to communicate effectively with students, staff, and visitors. Spanish is a plus.
Additional Essential Qualifications:
• Must have basic knowledge in presentations as a certified instructor and be able to train staff and volunteers in applications related to safety and security related subjects such as: active shooter response, bomb threats, and verbal de-escalation, mitigation, and liability courses.
• Must display courtesy and willingness to assist church members when necessary.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
• Must be proactive in support of the church and its beliefs, purpose, goals, policies, and programs.
• Candidate must be flexible, self-motivated, detail oriented, problem solver, able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a high-pressure atmosphere; excellent communications skills are required.
• On call for emergencies and alarms.
• Possess or qualify for a CCW license (LEOSA) and able to pass a yearly firearms qualification.
