Job Summary
Swan Products, LLC. engages a Safety Manager responsible for making sure employees are aware of, follow, and invest in the health and safety regulations that promote the wellbeing of the team. The Safety Manager is responsible for creating well researched policies to eliminate workplace hazards. The Safety Manager holds the responsibility of documenting, investigating, managing, and communicating accidents in the workplace to leadership and other required government agencies. The Safety Manager is required to develop a Safety First culture by creating content for monthly safety trainings for both the Waco and Sparks facilities. While based in Waco, the Safety Manager is also responsible for the development of all safety polices and trainings for the Sparks facility. Travel to the Sparks facility may be required but will be minimal.
Primary Functions and Duties
- Implements, manages and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA standards and other applicable requirements.
- Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.
- Evaluates the organizations procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions on a regular basis ; implements safeguards and solutions.
- Continuously monitors workplace health and safety practices and procedures and revises as needed in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Conducts regular risk assessment in accordance with legal guidelines.
- Conducts accident prevention training and health and safety training.
- Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events and maintains OSHA log.
- Facilitates monthly plant-wide safety meetings for Waco and provides the script and training materials for the Sparks facility.
- Oversees safety committee meetings.
- Monitors employee conformity to company safety rules and policies.
- Investigates and reports all workplace injuries/accidents and incidents to find cause and implement prevention measures.
- Handles workers compensation claims.
- Recommends solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures to management team.
- Reports on local health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
- May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, and other safety-related activities deemed appropriate by management.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a high regard for and knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
- High School diploma, GED or its equivalent is required.
- 2 to 4 years of safety related experience working in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude, basic understanding of mechanical equipment and mechanisms.
- Ability to work as a team member and assist others; contributing knowledge, skills, time, and effort.
- Experience in troubleshooting, machine adjustments and quality control of work in process. Ability to identify and solve problems as they arise; material, mechanical, and/or process.
- Experience with rubber or plastic extrusion is wonderful!
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Excel) (preferred).
- Able to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Candidate MUST have strong work ethic and is able to work with minimal supervision.

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Typical Schedule
