Safety Compliance Officer

The Safety Compliance Officer will be responsible for the adherence to all applicable safety laws, regulations and internal policies that govern the work Superheat performs. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs that help the organization maintain a safe working environment, avoid legal and financial penalties, and foster a culture of ethical conduct.

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Develop and implement Safety and Training compliance programs that are tailored to the specific safety risks within the company.
• Monitor compliance related to laws and regulations. Stay up to date and current on changes in laws and regulations. Monitor activities within the company to ensure compliance.
• Investigate all safety and training related compliance violations.
• Implement corrective actions for violations involving disciplinary action, policy or procedure updates, additional training.
• Provide reporting on compliance matters to senior leadership.
• Provide all OSHA and other governmental reporting requirements.
• Conduct regional safety audits and inspections for the organization.
• Maintain appropriate documentation regarding policies, procedures, and violations.
• Oversight of employee safety related documentation and record keeping
• Represents the company with governmental and regulatory agencies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Experience creating detailed reports and data utilization to track and monitor compliance reporting.
• Excellent leadership, change management and strong communication skills.
• Extensive working knowledge of Federal and state regulations relating to safety and health compliance including OSHA.
• Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and sensitive information.
• Ability to get buy-in and stand by difficult decisions.

Work Experience Requirements

• 4-6 years previous experience working in a Safety Compliance, audit, legal or risk management field, preference given to those in a management position.
• Experience working in an industrial contractor, refinery and/or power plant environment an asset.

Other Requirements 

• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to pass background checks for customer sites, including nuclear facilities.
• Able to travel to various regions.

Educational Requirements

• Post secondary education/certification in a related field.
