Summary
The Safety Compliance Coordinator is responsible for providing support for all safety and compliance requirements. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the Company’s compliance under the OHSA and regulated legislation. The Safety Compliance Coordinator will work closely with plant management to ensure that the health and safety program is maintained and communicated to employees, regulatory requirements are met, and that all health and safety training standards are updated.
Job Duties:
· Promote a culture of safety in an industrial manufacturing setting.
· Monitor and evaluate (daily) the safety program for compliance with legislation, enhancing awareness of health and safety issues in the workplace and encourage workplace wellness initiatives.
· Assist in the management of work-related injuries, accidents, incidents, near misses, including W/C claims administration Ensure all accidents are investigated and recommendations reviewed, and corrective action implemented; perform accident analysis as required. Compiling statistics and writing reports.
· Ensure the Safety program is reviewed and audited annually for compliance and understanding, conduct internal audits of the safety program against legislative requirements.
· Review new equipment and assess needed safety procedures. Ensure training is completed prior to the start of equipment.
· Serve as company representative in all OSHA related claims, site visits and reporting.
· Coordinate safety and compliance best practices and information sharing across all RI NA locations.
· Manage Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Program including air quality testing and noise monitoring and make recommendations as to required necessary personal protective equipment mandate.
· Manage Fire Fighting Measures Program/inspections including fire extinguishers, fire hoses, sprinkler system, pull stations, fire alarm, emergency lighting.
· Develop, maintain, and recommend safety policies and procedures; implement approved policies and programs including advice and monitoring the interpretation of the safety policy procedures and processes.
· Participate with the outline and format of safe operational procedure which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
· Assist in planning, developing, scheduling, and delivering training and development programs for safety training.
· Conduct new employee safety orientations.
· Provide advice/guidance/interpretation on health and safety policies, practices and legislation as required/requested; coach front line supervisors, and managers on employee health & safety issues/strategies; counsel employees with their health & safety concerns, as required.
· Respond to enquiries from and/or liaise with staff, and government/agencies.
· Ensure the maintenance, confidentiality/security, and retention of personnel files and personnel records, both paper and electronic as they relate to health & safety.
· Conduct risk and hazard assessments and analysis of root causes (building premises, individual workstations, common areas
· Lead monthly meetings and conduct inspections, regular site audits, safety observations.
· Enforce preventative measures.
· Prepare and distribute safety communications and documents as required.
· Manage and organize the safe disposal of hazardous substance – waste program.
· Supporting the development and editing of departmental SOPs.
· Responsible for aligning good safety practices over multiple sites.
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications Requirement:
· B.S. degree in Health and Safety or a related field; 2 (two) or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience; previous manufacturing experience would be preferred.
