Reports To:     Director of Operations
FLSA Status:   Full-time, Non-exempt

SUMMARY: The Safety and Quality Control Inspector will ensure all homes owned by North Coast Community Homes (NCCH) are visited monthly to evaluate safety concerns and living conditions. Utilizing a standard inspection checklist, they will document findings and identify trends and areas for improvement. This position is designed to focus on standard safety issues and will not perform maintenance unless repairs are to remediate an immediate safety hazard or can be completed with little effort (plunging toilets, shutting off running water, etc.).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate, complete, and report inspections for properties managed by the organization on a monthly basis well as any other homes as assigned.
  • Document status of equipment and safety systems using the company provided devices and software while adhering to both professional and North Coast Community Homes standards.
  • Ensure life safety standards are scheduled, followed, and documented at Intermediate Care Facilitieslocations
  • Assist with coordination of appointments with for third-party inspections
  • Assist with documentation and updating policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain an effective working rapport with tenants, vendors, and representatives of community agencies.
  • Represent the interest of NCCH in an appropriate and professional manner.
  • Complete required paperwork and input data into database on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Analyze data on a regular basis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Immediately notify maintenance supervisor of any safety hazards
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have basic proficiency in the use of computers including spreadsheet and word processing programs. Must be able to work independently. Must have a clean and valid driver's license, a vehicle and proper insurance.
EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of basic code requirements for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems installation and repair. Must have working knowledge and ability to use electronic devices for capturing data.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to work with and among persons with disabilities as well as to cooperate and communicate with co-workers, tenants, and the public.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to diagnose and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

North Coast Community Homes (NCCH) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that provides quality housing and resources that support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.  NCCH currently oversees the operations of 200 homes and serves over 600 residents throughout five Northeast Ohio counties. Working with County Boards of Developmental Disabilities and partner organizations, NCCH's signature service is providing options for accessibility renovations that offer enhanced independence for a resident.
