- Provides strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff; Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for client-specific or mission critical challenges/issues; Consults with client to define need or problem supervises studies and leads surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solutions
- Support HAF budget preparation and defense, SAE oversight and decision-making activities, PEO program execution and oversight efforts of aircraft platforms
- Maintain and analyze planning, scheduling, and management data
- Study, analyze, and provide recommendations on requirements, acquisition strategies, program documentation, program phase transition plans, supplemental information, and program execution
- Provide impartial assessments of programs approaching milestone decisions and of prime Contractor technical and operational issues
- Research and analyze program trends, identifying issues, and recommending solutions
- Make recommendations on the allocation of funding, establishment of program goals, objectives, and schedules, and the formulation of program direction
- Track compliance with stated program direction and identifying issues
- Identify and research programmatic issues and tradeoffs in terms of required capabilities, costs, and schedules
- Review and provide recommendations on existing and proposed Air Force acquisition and capability area policies and implementation
- Review and evaluate the impact of national, DoD, JCS, and civil government policies and activities that affect Air Force Acquisition Programs and capability areas
- Maintain historical Air Force weapon program documentation and developing summary documents/briefings and training material
- Provide short notice, quick-reaction analyses of critical programmatic issues in the context of Congressional, OSD Staff, Joint Staff, HQ USAF, MAJCOM, NATO, coalition, or bi-lateral activities
- Prepare PPBE documentation to ensure they accurately articulate the current program
- Support the HAF review process - AFROCs, JWCAs, DABs, Congressional cycle, ASPs, AFRBs, CSBs, GAO reports, etc
- Review and document MDR and FOIA requests
- Monitor on-going studies, analyses, and developmental work relevant to weapon systems
- Support program-specific efforts like CONOPS development, CDD, CPD, IER, and requirements working groups
- Review and provide data to assist in preparation for legislative hearings, program documentation, briefing packages and read-aheads, Congressional staffer visits, and other events to ensure an integrated and consistent Air Force position in response to Congressional questions, issues, and requests for information on assigned program/portfolio
- Handle confidential and classified (Secret/TS-SCI) information, correspondence, and communications
- No educational requirements
- SMEs do not have specific experience/education qualifications but are typically identified as recognized Industry leaders for a given area of expertise.
- 5 years' experience working on or directly supporting the development, operations, or sustainment of bomber aircraft and/or airborne delivered-nuclear weapon
- Deep familiarity with the nuclear surety process
- Firm understanding of the various organizations involved in the nuclear enterprise and their role in the successful fielding of sustainment modifications and new systems
- Experience working on or directly supporting aircraft programmed depot maintenance (to include integrating new capabilities onto existing aircraft) is desired
