Job description

The Routing Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Cost Analyst with activities such as coordinating processes and job costs to ensure excellence in manufacturing, safety, quality, scheduling, maintenance, and Continuous Improvement outcomes.

Essential Functions/Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow direction provided by EVP Manufacturing and Supply or designee.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to, and enforcing, all safety procedures and policies inside and outside the facility, including use of personal protective and McLanahan equipment as required. Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations.
  • Represent McLanahan Corporation in a positive manner both internally and externally while adhering to the organization’s core values.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, management, customers, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Identify, recommend and implement measures to improve production throughput, equipment performance, product quality, waste reduction, resource-flow and production cell efficiencies.
  • Monitor work process and documentation to ensure safety and compliance to the established productivity standards. Identify and recommend improvement for work methods and procedures. Understand company policies and philosophy and ensure the policies are enforced consistently.
  • Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with all departments towards continuous plant improvements.
  • Identify and implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment, performance, product quality and efficiency. Establish and maintain appropriate system for measuring area performance.
  • Review casting, fabrication, machining and assembly drawings and interpret them to process a finished part for production.
  • Communicate with supervisors and engineering team on drawings to assist with the implementation of part flow process.
  • Process part numbers and bills of materials cost changes on new and/or existing parts due to material or labor changes.
  • Generate and review cost reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist job process coordinator with creating/closing jobs.
  • Adjust labor and materials on current jobs.
  • Verify all aspects of the manufacturing process including hours, material costs and subcontract costs.
  • Provide labor efficiency results to supervisors and shop personnel.

Education/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Associates degree and/or 5 years of related manufacturing experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blue prints.
  • Experience presenting ideas effectively and communicating with all levels of management.

Competencies/ Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Solid understanding of ERP systems (Epicor desired).
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize the workload. Demonstrated ability to function successfully in a fast paced, changing work environment.
  • Knowledge of welding processes, machine shop and tools, including but not limited to their designs, uses, repairs and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control, costs and other techniques to maximize the effectives of manufacturing.
  • Mechanical ability is a preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and strong financial skills.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated integrity and honesty in all aspects.

Physical Requirements:

This position is typically located in an office setting and requires sitting and standing for long periods of time. The position requires ambulatory skills sufficient to travel domestically. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, visual acuity to use a keyboard, and operate standard office equipment. Requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of both oral and written communication.
