Schedule: *** There are two shifts available for these openings. One shift is Monday through Friday; 7:00am to 3:30pm and the other is Sunday through Thursday; 6:30am to 3:00pm. ***
Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide professional maintenance on roadways, landscape, turf, and associated components within NTTA’s maintenance limits by removing litter/debris, performing activities related to mowing, erosion repair, as well as, other activities associated with improving the appearance and condition of the system. This is accomplished by driving and operating mowers and related equipment, trucks, tractors, forklifts, snow and ice equipment and various other vehicles and equipment to accomplish tasks. This position will be required to operate large dump trucks and other large construction equipment necessary to maintain NTTA assets. Other duties including making minor repairs and assisting others with inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as, responding to emergencies, responding to weather-related emergencies, and completing special projects as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
- Removal of all litter and/or debris within NTTA’s maintenance limits. This will include but not limited to the traveled lanes, shoulders, grass covered and slope areas.
- Participate in Snow and Ice Events by preparing, operating, and cleaning various pieces of equipment and vehicles.
- The cleaning of rip/rap, inlets, drains, joints, as well as, assisting with erosion repair and prevention projects.
- Assist with the inspection of turf areas, as well as, mowing, edging, weed eating, brush and tree trimming, chipping and removal of brush and trees.
- Assist with the inspection, installation, removal, repair, replacement, and/or rotation of signs.
- Proper operation and inspection of all NTTA equipment, tools, and vehicles, before and after use. Reporting any damage and/or failures in accordance with established procedures.
- Under the direction of a licensed applicator, application of herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to cope with job related stress including but not limited to deadlines, customer, supervisory and staff interactions, multi-tasking and high work volumes is required.
Job Requirements:
- Formal Education: Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational or technical processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
- Experience: Under and including one year, preferably in maintenance and/or construction.
- Supervision: Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.
- Human Collaboration Skills: Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information.
- Freedom to Act: Receives Direction: The employee normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.
- Technical Skills: Basic: Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
- Budget Responsibility: None.
- Reading: Basic - Ability to recognize meaning of common two- or three-syllable words. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school.
- Math: Basic - Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school.
- Writing: Basic - Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school.
- Certification & Other Requirements: Valid Class C driver's license upon hire and MUST have a Class B CDL within six months of hire.
