Summary:
Provides clinical leadership and expertise in area of specialty. Assesses, monitors and implements supportive nursing care, health counseling and education to patients. Contributes to the organization goals of operational and clinical excellence, growth, patient satisfaction and promotion of a skilled and motivated work force.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides clinical leadership and expertise in area of specialty. Counsels staff in conformance with Hospital policy.
2. Obtains medical history, assesses patient's condition, explains procedure and ensures patient comfort and safety.
3. Monitors and implements supportive nursing care, health counseling and education to patients.
4. Coordinates the planning process by working closely with the health care team.
5. Maintains guidelines and protocols, and monitors adherence to protocols by providers.
6. Provides education to patient/caregiver on type of delivery system to be used.
7. Provides input to the development of policies and procedures.
8. Develops and initiates teaching strategies which reflect educational needs of staff.
9. Evaluates staffing requirements and recommends changes as needed.
10. Oversees program compliance. Ensures the delivery of quality and cost effective care through problem solving and implementation of quality assurance/improvement measures.
11. Participates in conferences, staff meetings, in-service training, quality assurance and promotes continuous quality improvement.
12. Achieves the organization's established expectations with regard to quality service, team work, self-development and community services.
13. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
