Overview

The RN, Discharge Expeditor supports the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Children's Mercy. The role will focus on improving patient access/flow and enhancing quality of care using clinical expertise, leadership, organizational awareness, and critical thinking skills. The Discharge Expeditor will focus on resolving delays in care and organizational discharge barriers. This position will work closely with the Patient Progression Hub Leadership and Care Management Staff to prioritize work for optimal patient progression throughout the day. Utilizing predictive data, the Discharge Expeditor will monitor, assess, triage, and address barriers to discharge. The Discharge Expeditor will partner with care teams to resolve patient progression delays and attain high quality patient care outcomes. The RN, Discharge Expeditor is a role model for leadership, financial stewardship, and clinical excellence, assuring sound decision support for patient throughput.

 

This role is eligible for additional pay for weekend hours as part of our Weekend Option Program: Sat/Sun 7am - 7pm.  Mon 7am - 4pm is paid at our regular pay rate.

Responsibilities
  • Manages, expedites, prioritizes, and mediates clinical issues, removes barriers to discharge and addresses delays in discharge in real time assuring sound decision support.
  • Leads the identification, reporting and management of discharge delays leading to optimal patient outcomes.
  • Role models leadership and participates in ongoing professional development activities, making a meaningful contribution to quality improvement and continuing education of self and others.

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BSN) and 3-5 years' experience required. Direct patient care, previous pediatric clinical experience and ability to navigate EMR and use software program.
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Missouri, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire OR
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire OR
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Care Management Certification Preferred Upon Hire
Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $41.26/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
