Eklego is proud to be assisting  in their search for an Assistant Director of Nursing, in Rochester, NY.

 

Reporting to the Vice President of Nursing Services, the Assistant Director of Nursing will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily nursing care and services .

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 2 years in gerontological nursing
  • Must possess a current New York State Registered Nurse License
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years in nursing supervision, including policy development and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of Nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
  • Must possess the ability to plan organize, develop, implement and interpret goals, objectives, policies and procedures that are necessary to provide quality care.
  • Must be familiar with Person-Centered-Care

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the day to day functions of the nursing department, in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
  • Participates in the developing, maintaining and updating of our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the nursing department.
  • Ensures that the care and services provided to the residents are communicated and coordinated between nursing and other departments.
  • Promotes cooperative and collaborative relationships among personnel supervised, other departments, residents and families.
  • Assists in the preparation, monitoring and control of the departmental budget.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of departmental goals.
  • Interviews, hires, promotes, disciplines and discharges personnel in consult with VP of Nursing Services and Director Human Resources.
  • Encourages and is instrumental in promoting staff development by identifying educational needs of Nursing staff and by providing input and recommendations to the Staff and Organizational Development department.
  • Participates in recruitment, retention programs, training, counseling and evaluation of per diem and float nursing personnel.
  • Supervises evening, night and weekend supervisors. Prepares performance evaluations as due.
  • Keeps informed of current geriatric nursing practices and introduces innovative approaches to the delivery of Nursing care, to ensure the optimal application of Nursing services.
  • Shares responsibility with the VP of Nursing Services for the implementation of change within the facility, as planned, coordinated and directed by administration, both for the total organization as well as within the nursing department itself.
  • Serves as member or chairperson of departmental and facility-wide committees.
  • Shares administrative on-call responsibilities for weekends and holidays with the VP of Nursing Services.
  • In the absence of the VP of Nursing Services assumes responsibilities for the smooth operation of the nursing department.
  • Coordinates and supervises the need for medical supplies.
  • Coordinates with pharmacy operations as needed.
  • Coordinates and evaluates Comprehensive Care Planning and MDS+ process.
  • Responsible for Medicare review of residents in the absence of the facility Medicare Review Coordinator.
  • Reviews complaints and grievances made by residents or families. Maintains a written record of the resident/family complaint/grievance that indicates action was taken to resolve the complaint.
  • Assists in developing, implementing and maintaining an on-going Quality Assurance Program for the nursing department.
  • Monitors and reports resident falls/injuries and medication errors.
  • May generate personnel transaction forms for nursing personnel as needed and submit to Human Resources.
  • All other job duties as assigned.
