THE TEAM: Marin County Employees' Retirement Association (MCERA) assist the Retirement Board in the administration of the retirement system. The membership of the Association includes employees from 9 different employers. In executing its responsibility, MCERA collects contributions from members and employers, calculates Retirement Benefits, pays monthly Retirement Benefits, processes contribution refunds, determines service purchase costs and pays death benefits.

The Retirement Benefits Technician plays a central customer service role by counseling members of MCERA on a range of retirement benefit services, plan options, medical and supplemental benefits and disability retirement. They also perform specialized retirement benefit calculations.Our Highly Qualified Candidate possesses experience with Retirement Benefits administration for a public agency and has worked with retirement administration database management systems. We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills with an eye towards detail and accuracy. Additionally, this individual possesses a strong commitment to customer service and working collaboratively with other team members.
The Minimum Qualifications for this position are:Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and abilities listed in the class specification. Typically, completion of two years of college coursework in any field AND two years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable and/or budgetary support;
OR
Two years of technical experience in processing retirement applications and counseling employees regarding employee Retirement Benefits.The first 25 applicants that meet the County of Marin's minimum qualifications will be reviewed and moved forward to the next step.

Testing and Eligible List: Depending on the number of qualified applications received, the examination may consist of a highly qualified review, application screening, online assessment, written examination, oral examination, performance examination, or any combination to determine which candidates' names will be placed on the eligible list.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and any future vacancies for open, fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions which may occur while the list remains active.
Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.Employment Type: Full Time, Regular
