Store Manager
The Store Manager has responsibility for all aspects of team performance, marketing and store results. The primary roles of the Store Manager are to ensure all employees have the knowledge and skills to successfully perform their jobs and to provide employees with the direction and motivation they need to consistently perform their jobs.
Certain employees may be given the title “Store Manager in Training.” These employees perform under the Store Manager job description, though their decision-making authority is more limited than that of a Store Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensure customers are warmly and genuinely greeted, the sales process is effectively used, and customer transactions are completed efficiently and accurately
- Ensure store loss prevention procedures are followed by all team members
- Process inventory shipments by accurately completing paperwork, properly labeling merchandise, and placing product on fixtures or in back stock
- Maintain store housekeeping standards
- Maintain store visual merchandising standards
- Seek ways to better promote the store, the product line and service within the store.
- Maintain proper inventory levels, ensure stocking, implement purchasing plans, and maintain contact with suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency in meeting sales goals.
- Implement various operational tasks
- Implement various marketing tasks
- Manage all controllable costs with a view to maintaining profitability.
- Develop and maintain a schedule for employees and promotions centered on holiday sales and other cycles.
- Provide direction to team members for them to complete tasks and their ongoing responsibilities
- Open the store at the start of the business day by effectively completing the “Opening Procedures”
- Close the store at the end of the business day by effectively completing the “Closing Procedures”
- Train team members on store standards, procedures, and coach them to improve performance
- Implement cross-training of employees and Assistant Managers to maintain productivity.
- Serve as “manager on duty” during operating hours; make decisions on customer-related and employee-related matters as needed
- Perform all team management functions, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, setting of performance objectives, periodic performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions
- Participate in company training and meetings as instructed by Corporate
- Perform other tasks assigned by corporate
Characteristics and Skills Required
- 2 years' experience in retail management and sales
- Passionate and knowledgeable on metaphysical products
- Friendly, service-oriented personality
- Excellent listening skills
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Comfortable initiating conversation with strangers
- Conscientious with a proven track record of taking initiative to complete responsibilities
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Effective at giving direction to others and following up to ensure proper execution
- Proven track record with prioritizing and getting task lists completed
- Good judgment in decision-making and in handling difficult situations
- Basic math skills including ability to count cash and make change
- Ability to work effectively with others and as part of a team
- Ability to endure constant movement, conversation, reaching and grabbing, and other mild levels of physical activity for hours at a time
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including nights and weekends
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
