Scope of Job: 

Responsible for the operation of specifically assigned retail locations, while meeting LEGOLAND® California sales goals and ensuring sound MC and guest relations.  Has strong Retail financial understanding to manage Retail stores.  Creates Strategies and Executes plans to drive commercial performance. 

Provides direction to Leaders and all Retail Associates, monitors and evaluates staff performance, manages revenue, labour goals, budgets and inventory control practices. Demonstrates a high level of knowledge in people management and the development of staff.  Implements policies and procedures, and ensures a successful and efficient retail operation. Exhibit patience, flexibility and the ability to work effectively. This individual strives to exceed guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction, driving sales and positively promoting the LEGOLAND® brand.         

 

Key Objectives:

 

  1. Active and contributing member of the Retail Management Team.
  2. Exhibits both the ability to work within a team and independently to execute projects within a scope while achieving maximum results.
  3. Directly oversees the performance and productivity of Retail Leadership & Associates.
  4. Create a culture of sales to drive revenue and profit. 
  5. Provides support in administrative tasks, including monitoring inventory levels on sales floor and in stockroom and managing losses.
  6. Directly coordinates and oversees efficient stock delivery processes.
  7. Responsible for directing and delivering operational and sales excellence.
  8. Creates effective schedules and controls labour appropriately.
  9. Responsible for Training and Development.

 

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  1. Operations

 

The Senior Retail Manager - Sales develops and executes Retail plans to drive the business and deliver budgets. This Leader directs the store teams in their assigned location(s) to success. They have responsibility for profit and loss effectiveness, leadership, staffing, staff development, and product excellence.

This Leader ensures the management and monitoring cash register operations and cash control to ensure accuracy. This Leader develops, recommends and implements policies and procedures for Retail Operations. This Leader is well versed in all operational policies pertaining to profit protection and inventory control and works diligently to exceed the high standards. The Senior Retail Manager constantly strives to maximize sales potential and ensures all staff under their direction strives for that same goal. The Senior Retail Manager also participates in the Duty Manager program representing the Retail Department. This individual may also perform in the Park Duty Manager role on behalf of the resort. 

 

 

  1. Marketing:

The Senior Retail Manager utilizes knowledge of all LEGO branded and non-LEGO branded products to implement merchandising, sales, promotions and retail offering objectives with the partnership of the retail buying and merchandising team. This Leader demonstrates excellent retail merchandising standards; space management, visual merchandising and can make recommendations to store layouts and promotions to affect revenue performance.

This individual is responsible for developing teams that deliver product service excellence to our guest through a KPI measure. This Leader should be the example for resolving guest complaints and queries to the satisfaction of our guests’ and the company. The Senior Retail Manager partners with stakeholders to develop and promote all in park promotions. While out in the resort or in public this individual is expected to promote MEG and our resort in the most positive light possible.

 

 

  1. Financial

 

This position Leads a team to generate revenue, deliver top notch guest experiences, and strives to ensure all KPI’s are met through effective profit and loss management. This Leader reviews, monitors and creates action plans based on financial reports to deliver financial goals. This individual participates in budget planning by monitoring budgets, labor costs, any payroll for assigned areas. This individual demonstrates a delivers cost forecasts, sales goals and labor projections. They are responsible for monitoring sales and inventory control for assigned location; maintains cash control to ensure accuracy and policy enforcement, Ensures that stock levels are maintained while achieving profit protection goals and controlling retail shrink. This candidate complies with all loss prevention policies and strives to protect company assets and minimize risk.

 

This manager will also need to review and analyse sales and stock information on a regular basis, then ensure the team are coached on continuing this approach.  You should adopt a formal approach to probing information, but you also need to manage by exception to identify both anomalies and opportunities.  The full range of commercial reports available should be utilised.  You and team should know daily, weekly and full year targets and resultant performance, to support a sales driven culture.

 

 

 

  1. Development

 

The Senior Retail Manager is expected to attend company training programs to

develop your capabilities such as people management skills, sales & recruitment skills, financial and disciplinary training to name a few.  Use the Personal Development Plan program in conjunction with your manager to identify areas of growth potential.

 

 

  1. People

 

This Leader builds and develops teams, who work together, support, communicate, and encourage one another to reach a common goal while displaying the Merlin Values. This individual also works to identify training opportunities, deliver feedback and implement programs as needed. This Leader recognizes and manages employee performance on a daily basis, participates in employee appraisals and gives constructive feedback on employee performance. Organizes and hold regular briefings for all MC’s. The Senior Retail Manager is responsible for the accuracy and security of all personnel files, training information and attendance records ensuring timeliness of coaching and counselling and mentoring. The role is expected to provide constant leadership, advice and feedback to the department.  They must provide an environment of openness and trust, with constant feedback and performance coaching. 

 


 

Background & Experience:

 

This position requires at least five years of experience in retail store operations including employee training. Experience within theme park retail sales is preferred. Thorough knowledge of cash handling and inventory/sales auditing is required. Thorough knowledge of point of sale automated systems is required.  Excellent communication skills with ability to plan, develop and set up new retail operations are required.  Experience in merchandise maintenance and visual merchandising also required. Ability to use office equipment, word processing, spreadsheet systems. Ability to work effectively with others. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.

Must have valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.

 

Education:

A bachelor’s degree with preferable emphasis in business administration, management, or closely related field (or equivalent education and experience) is required.
