Our mid-sized property management/real estate client is seeking a Retail Property Accountant with substantial recent expertise in Retail Space or Mixed-Used Property Accounting (Office and Retail or Multi-Family and Retail). In the role of Retail Property Accountant, this individual will be tasked with overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions for our Retail portfolio.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Execute all monthly and annual closing activities for the Retail portfolio, ensuring the meticulous preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and cash account reconciliations.
• Conclude all financial tasks and reconciliations with a keen focus on accuracy to uphold financial integrity.
• Collaborate with the Operations team to review and enhance annual budgets.
• Foster collaboration with Community Managers to ensure precise allocation of invoices between Multi-Family Space and Retail Space.
• Ensure proper filing and availability of copies of Final signed leases, encompassing Renewals and Amendments.
• Keep a proactive eye on options to renew, ensuring they are well-documented and within their awareness.
• Exhibit determination as a self-starter, showcasing excellent organizational skills and adept time management.
• Demonstrate effective communication through email, in-person interactions, or over the phone.
• Showcase commitment and pride in delivering high-quality work.
• Maintain clear and routine communication with Community and Regional Management, as well as Investment Management teams, regarding financial statements and cash management.
• Contribute to the development, documentation, and communication of accounting policies and procedures; identify and implement applicable process improvements.

Required Qualifications:

• Possess over 4 years of experience in Retail/Property Accounting, with a preference for expertise in Retail Real Estate accounting.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Business degree with minor in Accounting acceptable)
• CAM Reconciliation experience required
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Additional Qualifications:

• CPA or MBA qualifications are nice to have
• Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles, financial accounting processes and systems, and proficiency in general ledger reconciliation.
• Audit experience is considered advantageous.
• Demonstrate strong communication, planning, organizational, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Exhibit exceptional attention to detail while efficiently managing multiple assignments within tight deadlines.
• Experience with OneSite is a valuable asset.
