Overview of Position
The Retail Manager will represent the Nativa Cannabis organization and is responsible for monitoring day-to-day operations at the retail level. This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating all the store’s transactions and operations, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all customers and employees, and inspiring staff to provide the highest level of consistent customer service.
The Retail Manager provides the managerial skills and presence necessary to ensure Nativa Cannabis can effectively engage with customers and drive the growth of the organization with a consistent and desirable retail experience. This position ensures that the retail department operations follow the Seneca Nation’s Cannabis Regulatory Authority’s cannabis regulations and internally approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The Retail Manager collaborates with the Assistant Retail Manager and others on the management team to develop, document, and implement practices, policies, and strategies that support a performance and results-driven culture.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Management
- Provides day-to-day leadership and management to Nativa Cannabis operations that mirrors the mission and values of the company
- In conjunction with the General Manager, sets operational performance benchmarks and conducts periodic reviews of operational performance
- Reports to the General Manager and approves or changes directions to achieve planned results and budgets
- Fosters a success-oriented, flexible, and accountable environment
Leadership
- Collaborates with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of Nativa Cannabis as well as to identify the related KPIs that will be used to monitor progress
Compliance
- Oversees operations and ensures the company is compliant with all regulatory and safety requirements pursuant to the Seneca Nation Cannabis Regulatory Authority
Operations
- Oversees inventory and cash management, daily and weekly, including regular bank deposits; responsible for training retail staff on proper cash handling and inventory management
- Delivers a superior level of customer service, both in person and on the phone; coaches retail staff on the commitment to customer service
- Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs
- Champions the customer experience profile; connects with clients
- Consistently models professionalism; serves as a role model to retail staff during periods of high stress and ambiguity
- Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, related profitability, and business goals and objectives
- Uses strategic, creative thinking skills to develop forward-looking plans for an integrated retail experience to include activities and store/e-commerce promotions to be developed in conjunction with the Marketing Manager
- Maintains knowledge of all computer and technology systems and software
- Ensures response to all systems problems by contacting information technology support and seeking solutions
- Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers
- Represents Nativa Cannabis with internal and external business and community partners
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the General Manager
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
- Business-related Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution whose program of study has been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the United States Department of Education or a minimum of four (4) years of experience in managing staff in a fast-paced intensive industry required
- Minimum of one (1) year in a management role in a legal, state-licensed cannabis operation (or similar industry) of 10+ employees; two (2) years preferred

- Solid problem-solving, business acumen, influence, and negotiation skills
- Superior organizational, project management, time management, and multi-tasking skills
- Superior communication skills including listening, verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Successful track record with being a team player as well as building, leading, and motivating teams
- Flexibility and creativity in finding solutions are a must, namely in the context of a start-up environment
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint (or a similar suite of applications)
- Familiarity with retail POS systems (preferred but not necessary)
- Experience working with Native American communities preferred
- Legal cannabis industry knowledge required
Native Preference
- Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified members of the Seneca Nation or qualified Native American candidates
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
