Position Summary
Reporting to the Store Manager, the Assistant Retail Manager is responsible for supporting the retail sales department by providing staff oversite, proactive customer engagement, and thorough inventory management. The successful candidate will possess outstanding customer service skills, a problem-solving attitude, a strong desire for self-improvement, attention to detail, strong interpersonal abilities, solid administrative/clerical and time management skills, and the desire to progress into a management position. The Assistant Retail Manager is also responsible for upholding the mission and values of the company and ensuring that the team displays excellence at all times.
Essential Functions
- Monitors and analyzes the customer service provided by team members
- Offers feedback and coaching
- Greets customers and offers assistance with product selection and services
- Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to provide a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Nativa Cannabis service traits
- Provide a superior level of customer service, both in person and on the phone; coaches retail staff on the commitment to customer service
- Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs
- Supervises operation of the store and team members, opening/closing/changing shifts, task delegation, and scheduling team members
- Supervises the control of the store money safe deposits, change orders, and oversees all aspects of bookkeeping including ledger, invoices, cash reports, and time records
- Learns to analyze inventory trends and supervises inventory management, including ordering items, keeping stock, and leveraging company resources to avoid outs and overstock
- Maintains knowledge of all computer and technology systems and software. Ensures response to all systems problems by contacting information technology support and seeking solutions
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Alongside the General Manager and Store Manager, create a sales culture through consistent staff training, goal setting, contests, and other methods
- Ensure all administrative processes involving personnel are handled on a timely basis (i.e., performance evaluations, salary reviews, time sheets, change of status forms, etc.)
- Partner with the Store Manager to ensure accurate inventory records are maintained in compliance with the Seneca Nation Cannabis Regulatory Authority
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the General Manager and Store Manager
Qualifications
Position Requirements
- Business-related Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution whose program of study has been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the United States Department of Education or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in managing staff in a fast-paced intensive industry is required
- Minimum of one (1) year in a management role in a legal, state-licensed marijuana/cannabis operation (or similar industry) of 10+ employees required; two (2) years preferred
- Experience working in highly regulated environments required
- Experience with financial budgets required
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications required, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of retail POS systems and/or inventory management systems preferred
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to speak effectively before groups and respond to questions required.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and occasional weekends required
- Must have integrity and a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential issues

- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required
- Experience working with Native American communities preferred
- Knowledge in all areas of historical, traditional, cultural, language, and spiritual practices of the Seneca Nation of Indians preferred
- Legal cannabis industry knowledge required
Physical Requirements
- Extended time standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for a distance of 100 feet
- This position requires occasionally extended and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to manipulate objects
Native Preference
- Seneca or Native preference applies, given to qualified applicants pursuant to the Seneca Nation of Indians’ Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance
