Restaurant Maintenance Service Technician

We’re hiring immediately for our Restaurant Maintenance Technician position! You will apply your technical knowledge and experience toward maintaining the proper operation of all restaurant equipment including heating and cooling, plumbing and the physical appearance of the building inside and out.

MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains all Whataburger equipment, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), cooking and beverage equipment and refrigerators.
• Installs equipment in accordance with Company safety procedures; follows safety protocols when starting and shutting down equipment. Resolves electrical/mechanical problems; and informs appropriate management of potential inherent dangers with equipment.
• Responsible for repairing floor, wall & ceiling tile, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, door assemblies & hardware and all other aspects of building & grounds maintenance with help from vendors.
• Maintains designated Business Unit of Whataburger facilities including equipment, tools, inventories, service calls, parts, supplies etc. Performs minor plumbing and electrical repairs, contacts external vendors for major renovations or repairs.
• Keeps management advised of status of repairs, special projects and their implementation schedules, and productivity and budget variances for small capital projects in the assigned zone.
• Reduces costs associated with facility equipment repairs by proactively planning and organizing assigned service order requests. Escalates proper assignment of service requests to external services, when necessary.
• Works with Regional Facilities & Operations Management to ensure compliance with Texas Accessibility Standards (TAS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification or CFC Certification (required)
• High school diploma/GED equivalent or equivalent work experience
• Technical or Trade school certification, bachelor’s degree, or college hours in technical-related courses (preferred)
• 2+ years’ field experience in the HVAC and restaurant equipment repair field (preferred)
• 2+ years’ experience in the construction trade and carpentry fields (preferred)
• 2+ years’ work experience in commercial kitchen equipment repair (preferred)
• Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs
• Must be able to travel (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, Rotating On Call Schedule
