Respiratory Therapist

Burke's Pharmacy is looking to add a new team member to our Medical Equipment Division. Burke's DME offers a wide variety of medical equipment from bathroom accessories to lift chairs and mobility items. Our respiratory offerings (PAP and O2 devices) have been managed by a single team member up until this point. With the growth we continue to see in our respiratory business we are ready to hire a RT so we can continue our outstanding customer service and patient care that Burke's Pharmacy is known for.

Burke's Pharmacy offers CPAP/APAP/BiPAP and oxygen equipment in our NON-PARTICIPATING DME buisness model. With the expansion of our buisness to multiple locations we are looking to add an RT that is ready and willing to hit the ground running in a RETAIL setting. The RT will handle most of the respiratory equipment set ups AS WELL as daily DME duties within the office. Burke's Medical Equipment does 90% of all respiratory set ups in store, with the remaining 10% being home set ups for patient who have mobility issues, or bedside deliveries to Hiton Head Hospital. This position will work out of our multiple locations; Hilton Head Island, Beaufort (coming soon) and Bluffton (coming soon).

This position performs equipment setups in a timely and professional manner. This employee is generally responsible for the setup of technical equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, APAP, and Oxygen units and any other DME Department task assigned or required as necessary. The RT also provides technical assistance with equipment and may end up performing setup of all types of oxygen equipment as well.

• Provides patient education as an intricate part of the patient care activity according to the patient's needs.
• Could require use of a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
• Performs complete and professional patient assessments in accordance with policies and procedures
• Maintains current knowledge of respiratory homecare techniques and relevant respiratory therapy concepts and licensing.
• Follows applicable policies and procedures of the Safety & Regulatory Manual regarding General Safety, OSHA (includes the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment), DOT (driving safety), FDA, and Emergency Planning.
• Represents the company through professional personal appearance, patient care activities, and quality of work.
• Maintains patient records in complete and organized manner in compliance with accreditation standards.
• May be involved in the training of other DME Personel for baseline products
• Must have excellent human relations skills to interface with doctors, other referral sources, and patients.
• Must have better than average computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Must have completed all training/education required to obtain and retain Respiratory Therapist License.
• Must be a clinician authorized within his/her scope of practice (as established by applicable state law or if none, by the applicable national board) to provide all patient care services offered by the company from time to time.
• If applicable, based on the requirements of the state, in addition to a valid state license, the current National Board of Respiratory Care Credentials may also be required for CRTs and RRTs.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds

```Duties```
- Provide respiratory therapy services to patients in an office settings with home visits on occasion.
- Set up and inservice of respiratory equipment treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor and assess patients' respiratory status and make appropriate adjustments to treatment plans.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and disease management.
- Document patient information, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely.

```Experience```
- Minimum of 6 Months of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Proficient in medical terminology related to respiratory therapy.
- Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques, equipment, and procedures.
- Solid understanding of human anatomy related to the respiratory system.
