Position Overview:
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing specialized respiratory care to patients across a diverse range of medical conditions. Your expertise in respiratory therapy will contribute to the well-being and recovery of our patients while ensuring they receive top-notch care in our state-of-the-art facilities. This is a permanent position with this wonderful health system.
Responsibilities:
1.Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to determine their respiratory therapy needs and collaborate with physicians to establish appropriate treatment plans.
2.Treatment: Administer respiratory treatments and therapies, including but not limited to aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, and mechanical ventilation, according to prescribed orders.
3.Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate patient responses to therapy, making adjustments as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
4.Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, therapies, and the proper use of equipment to promote self-management and adherence to treatment plans.
5.Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, such as code blue or respiratory distress, while adhering to established protocols.
6.Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, documenting all assessments, treatments, and changes in condition.
7.Equipment Management: Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of respiratory therapy equipment and recommend repairs or replacements as needed.
8.Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and other therapists, to provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
9.Quality Assurance: Comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, including infection control protocols, to ensure the highest standards of care and safety.
10.Professional Development: Stay current with the latest developments in respiratory therapy through continuing education and training opportunities.
Qualifications:
•Current license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of New Jersey.
•Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
•BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required.
•ACLS and NRP certification within 60 days of hire if not already obtained.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
•Excellent problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
•Knowledge of and adherence to all relevant ethical, legal, and regulatory standards.
•Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required for entry-level candidates.
