Duties & Responsibilities:
The Inspector must attend all required training, complete required certifications, and maintain a complete understanding of all applicable Program policies, requirements, and procedures while working independently to manage inspection assignments.
In addition, the Inspector’s responsibilities include the following:
- Document activities and homeowner communications in tablet-based inspection application.
- Inspect the interior and exterior areas of each home, including crawlspaces and attics
- Take photographs, record scope notes, and complete checklists or other forms as required.
- Enter field data and eligible scope into tablet-based application and generate scopes for program-eligible work.
- Perform initial home assessments, progress inspections and final inspections in accordance with program guidelines and requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program’s strategic direction
- Provide a professional appearance at all times
- Provide citizens with professional customer service at all times
Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Excellent typing skills and proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities and guidelines.
- Capability and willingness to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
- Experience with typical residential inspections, FEMA damage assessments, or HUD CDBG housing and/or similar programs preferred.
Inspector candidates should possess the qualifications identified below:
- Ability to accurately scope storm related damage and accurately sketch and enter all variables and line items into the tablet-based application.
- Operate laptop/tablet, laser measuring device, ladder, camera, and other tools as necessary.
- Ability to access and inspect all areas of a subject home.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, ability to work independently, and effective interpersonal skills.
