Job description

The Energy Analyst will be responsible for providing in-home Residential Energy analysis in support of utility programs. The Energy Analyst will be primarily responsible for the technical aspects of home energy audits. This includes program participant and contractor outreach, site visits to include participant education, data collection, building diagnostics, identifying major retrofit opportunities, and general program awareness for eligible opportunities. This is a full-time position where fieldwork and office work are expected.
The Energy Analyst's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • The ability to forge strong working relationships with key stakeholders and trade allies.
  • Ability to show initiative with creating a work schedule on a weekly basis that often fluctuates between office hours and site visits.
  • Work as an individual and as part of a team to conduct full home energy assessments in single-family rentals, duplexes, triplexes and quadplexes.
  • Ability to have conversations with program participants about the program processes, our services, and on all components related to energy efficiency within these types of facilities.
  • Perform blower door and combustion safety tests, inspect insulation levels in walls and attics, including infrared camera assessment, and prepare accurate data input and analysis.
  • Familiarity utilizing Microsoft suite tools and other software applications to calculate energy savings opportunities.
  • Assist with program outreach efforts towards targeted participants, manage multiple projects, and meet program criteria.
  • Recommend energy efficiency improvements and ability to discuss realistic projects with participants to maximize energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and attend all required training.
  • Occasional travel around greater Minnesota.

Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge of and demonstrated experience in building science, Residential Energy efficiency principles and practice.
  • 2 - 5 years' experience in building science, energy assessments, energy efficiency, reporting, or other related experience will be considered.
  • Experience with infrared camera assessment, blower door testing, and other diagnostic energy auditing tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in a professional, ethical, and nonpartisan manner.
  • Able to work independently as a self-motivated team player.
  • Strong customer relations skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office®, Asana, and other customer management systems.
  • Ability to carry up to 20 pounds of equipment and transport tools to and from office, vehicles, and properties.
  • Comfort utilizing ladders to access attics.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred skills/experience
  • Located in Minnesota, particularly Twin Cities area
  • Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst certification, Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), or other related certifications preferred
