Rising Oaks is a transitional housing program for young adults who have either emancipated from the foster care system or are participating in extended foster care. Along with 30 studio apartments set in a safe and welcoming community, Rising Oaks provides a comprehensive continuum of developmentally appropriate, culturally competent, co-located and integrated services in collaboration with Alameda County Social Services Agency. Services include case management, life skills training, health and wellness services, educational support, career development, individual and family therapy, support groups, housing and transportation assistance, and access to community resources. Rising Oaks works in partnership with youth to identify and build upon their strengths and to lay the foundation from which they can launch successfully into their adult lives.

Join our team as: Residential Counselor - Rising Oaks
What You Will Do
The Residential Counselor is responsible for daily operations of the program milieu, assuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that allows for participants' growth. The Residential Counselor is also responsible for safety practices, enforcing and monitoring policy and procedures. These duties may also include assisting participants with administration of their medications, and overseeing the daily living skills such as health, wellness, and hygiene of the participants and managing schedules or appointments. The Residential Counselor builds relationships with participants who have complex lives that may include drug and alcohol use. The Residential Counselor will provide services within a strengths-based, culturally-sophisticated, family-friendly environment that values respect, accountability, compassion, excellence, diversity, innovation, and integrity.
Shifts Available
Full Time - Hourly; Mon-Fri/8am-5pm
Salary RangeIn accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $22.55 and $36.73 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

What You Bring to The Table (requirements):
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends when needed.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary mental health team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the developmental milestones of children or youth.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize de-escalation techniques that align with the trauma informed care model as part of intervention strategy for working with participants in crisis who are responding to triggers/stressors and/or demonstrating early indicators of distress.
- Clean driving record; current CA Driver's License required, or ability to obtain within 10 days after hired.
- Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred
- A. Degree in social science discipline or two (2) years' work experience.
- Experience with target population (youth, young adults, intellectually disabled youth, etc.) and/or in a milieu setting.
- One (1) year or more experience with program target population (intellectually disabled, homeless, teens or young adults, SED).
- One (1) year or more experience with program modality (example: school-based, residential, mobile/community-based, assertive community treatment, wraparound, etc.)
