POSITION SUMMARY
Fountain House’s housing program provides a sense of safety and stability, ensuring that members (individuals living with mental illness(es): remain housed; establish a safe space for recovery; develop independent living skills; increase their self-sufficiency and build a strong foundation from which they can achieve their life goals.
Our Residential Aides (RA) will provide exemplary care and support to our member residents. We strive to create a safe, caring, and collaborative community where our members will thrive and achieve their goals by providing support to members’ daily lives.
Shift: Part-time position Sunday & Monday, 12AM - 8AM (overnight)
Salary: $22.36 per hour.
Requirements:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Member Support
- Engage and support members in the residence or apartment to perform necessary tasks for the upkeep of the residence and the well-being of members
- Work as part of Fountain House’s integrated care team providing feedback, advocacy and support to FH clinical staff, case management support staff, vocational staff, and social practitioners
- Establish and update goals and accurately record progress of members
- Conduct conflict resolution and de-escalation when needed for members in a crisis
- Maintain daily log entries regarding complaints and incidents
Building Safety & Maintenance
- Meet and greet members, visitors, and external providers, check identification, and announce visitors to member residents
- Respond to emergencies and contact 911 when needed; report the incident to the Residence Director.
- Provide excellent communication skills, take phone messages, and transfer calls appropriately to members and Residence Director
- Conduct rounds to ensure safeguards are in place throughout residential space, for member safety
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Other duties may be assigned as needed
REQUIRED KNOWELDE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience and capacity to work with members experiencing mental health issues
- Provide exceptional ongoing support and member confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with members and staff
- Proven writing skills for accurate documentation and progress notes when needed
- Excellent computer and software proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Must be able to work under pressure during a crisis
- Ability to meet deadlines for documentation and any other necessary duties
- Ability to work independently, multitask and conduct assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Positive, energetic, dynamic, and engaging personality is essential
- Collaborative and creative approach to work-related duties
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND CREDENTIALS
- High School Degree or GED required
- 1-2+ years’ work experience in a residential or similar setting required
- Flexible and able to work any residential shift, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Knowledge and passion for issues affecting people living with mental illness strongly preferred
