Summary of Job Duties:
Duties and responsibilities:
• Plan and implement educational, cultural, and academic activities designed to meet the diverse developmental needs of students.
• Conduct formal and informal assessments to determine the needs of residents.
• Provide leadership to any lifestyle programs housed in the building( s)/areas and work with the other Resident Specialist staff to develop activities designed to develop connections between residents.
• Provide support to the resident in working through student problems and concerns
• Respond to roommate conflicts and other resident concerns.
• Provide informal counseling and referral to individual students. Work closely with the Counseling and Student Wellness (most directly with the Counselors).
• Maintain awareness of campus and community resources.
• Provide hands-on leadership during the openings and closings of the residence halls.
• Participate in regular building tours and conduct Bi-monthly Health and Safety Inspections (Damages and Cleanliness).
• Coordinating damage accountability and billing process
• Manage the occupancy and assignment procedures and records.
• Ensure the proper management of keys (student rooms, common area, and staff/office keys).
• Build relationships with Facilities Management and Campus Police to maintain the physical environment at optimum levels.
• Manage student conduct cases (student meetings, delivery and tracking of sanctions, filing incident reports, etc.).
• Refer cases to the University's student conduct system promptly.
• Recruit and actively support the formation of hall organization in their building( s)/areas.
• Advise hall organization as they work to accomplish their goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
