A well-established civil and environmental engineering company in Massachusetts is seeking Resident Construction Inspectors for temporary positions in the water, sewer, and storm water, and industry. The successful candidate must have a positive attitude and a willingness to foster good working relationships with clients, municipalities, and residents. The ability to work effectively, efficiently, responsibly, reliably, and independently is critical.
The inspector shall have 10+ years construction oversight experience in the water, sewer, and/or storm water industry. We are also looking for inspectors experienced with construction oversight at pump stations, water treatment plants, and wastewater treatment plants.
Activities shall include, but will not be limited to, the following:
* Review contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.)
* Observe the contractor’s progress in fulfilling his/her obligations under the contract
* Maintain files and records for use in preparing record drawings
* Prepare digital daily reports to summarize construction and installation work including information, photos and data regarding equipment, personnel, materials, and other indicators of construction progress
* Take notes/ties in field book and photo documentation of construction activities
* Measure the quantity of work for the contractor’s monthly and final payment estimates
* Review schedules (work, shop drawings, samples, etc.)
* Attend meetings with contractor, engineer, and client
* Record and report problems and/or the contractor’s failure to comply with contract documents
The inspector should have the following qualities:
* Self-starter and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Aptitude and positive attitude important.
* Ability to work well with contractor, engineer, municipality, and residents
* Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
* Detail oriented
* High School education or equivalency required. Engineering or technical education/training is a plus
Some positions require weekday overnight travel within New England for extended periods of time, others do not. Project duration vary and work is typically limited to the construction season, unless otherwise noted.
