The Resident Assistant (RA) for Conferences & Events will play a critical role in supporting the planning and execution of summer conferences and events at our organization. The RA will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to guests and assisting with logistics, communication, and overall guest experience. This is a temporary position, lasting approximately 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2023. The RA position is a student staff live-in position.
Hours per Week
Up to 35 hours per week, maximum, during summer semesters.

Department Specific Job Functions
- Serve as a point of contact for guests, providing information, directions, and support as needed throughout their stay.
- Assist with guest check-in and check-out processes, including room assignments, key distribution, and billing.
- Monitor guest behavior and ensure compliance with policies and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all guests.
- Collaborate with the Conference & Events team to ensure seamless execution of events, including room set-up, audiovisual support, and catering services.
- Provide timely and effective communication with guests, staff, and vendors to ensure successful event planning and execution.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of guest rooms, common areas, and event spaces.
- Participate in required training sessions and team meetings and attend to other duties as assigned by the Conference & Events management team.
Enrollment Requirements
Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.
Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.
Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including nights and weekends as needed.
- Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, or event planning is preferred but not required.
