Form of workJob Purpose or Objective(s): Preforms clerical, administrative, and clinical duties to keep the medical office running smoothly and ensure patients' needs are being met.
Primary Tasks:
1. Greet guests and sign in patients for their scheduled appointments.
2. Complete patient care duties specific to assigned department such as: dress wounds according to physician instructions (Specialty Clinic), or schedule and complete decompression table appointments (Residency Clinic).
3. Collect vitals and patient history.
4. Answer telephone, schedule appointments, take messages, and refer calls to appropriate place.
5. Update information in the computer.
6. Manage supply of all forms and non-medical supplies in the area. Responsible for receiving supplies according to hospital policy.
7. Call patients for follow-up, missed appointments, etc.
8. Report problems with patients, staff or visitors to clinic manager in timely manner.
9. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns, and hazardous conditions to clinic manager.
10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
High school diploma or GED
Certified/Registered Medical Assistant certification preferred
Current Basic Life Support certification
Knowledge of medical terminology
Basic computer and typing skills
Good telephone etiquette skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to remain calm and professional even in an emergency situation
Must be able to handle complex job conditions
Ability to use discretion and protect confidentiality of the patient
Knowledge of HIPPA and the importance of confidentiality
Wound management experience
Three years medical experience
