Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
As a key member of the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, you’ll collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator, Dr. Caroline Alexander. Your goal will be to test novel hypotheses that are aimed at cancer prevention. These are focused on skin biology and signaling and include cutting edge techniques in the assay of heat transfer, environmental regulation, lipidomics, biochemistry and evaluation of results from both in vitro and in vivo mouse models. Current techniques you will apply include organizing and performing experiments with mice, a range of molecular analyses (Western blotting, tissue culture, thin layer chromatography), immunostaining and image evaluation, data analysis from informatics experiments, and plotting of data using prism and other statistical tools. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor and train undergraduate student workers and other visitors to the laboratory, to propagate the McArdle Lab’s exceptional worldwide reputation for training the next generation of scientists. The current staff of the McArdle Laboratory numbers approximately 200, with approximately 22 research groups that include 68 graduate students, 31 postdoctoral fellows, and 45 research specialists or other academic staff. Your peer group is highly interactive and collaborative; they can foster further career development, share information on skills workshops and providing peer training in diverse techniques.
