Researcher II
The Reasearcher II specializes in groundwater projects. The role involves collecting and interpreting groundwater data, aiding in map and report construction, and collaborating with our team to deliver essential USGS data releases.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Researcher II: negotiable
Pay commensurate with experience.

Researcher II Responsibilities Include:
- Collect and interpret groundwater data including water levels, water use data, aquifer tests, and water quality sampling.
- Aid in the construction of maps and reports derived from groundwater data.
- Assist in developing hydrogeologic frameworks through interpretation of geophysical well logs and lithologic descriptions.
- Collect, review, and analyze groundwater level measurements.
- Collaborate with team members and USGS partners in data analysis and presentation.
- Prepare and deliver USGS data releases of groundwater, water use, or water quality data.
- Occasional field work involving weather exposure, uneven walking surfaces, and physically demanding tasks.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Researcher II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Experience in measuring water levels, field mapping, and interpreting hydrogeologic units within the Mississippi Embayment Regional Aquifer System and other Arkansas hydrogeologic units.
- Proficiency in GIS software for creating maps from large datasets.
- Ability to evaluate data using Excel and geodatabases.
- Familiarity with interpreting outcrops, stratigraphy, and well construction information.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for both team collaboration and individual work.
- Capability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina for occasional field work, including tasks such as carrying 50 pounds and working in varying weather conditions.
- Problem-solving skills and organizational abilities.
- This position requires a USAccess public trust
