Job Description:
The Digital Agriculture Innovations Team within the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Research Scientist II who will be responsible for supporting research and discovery projects at the cross section of agronomy, crop production systems, ag machinery, and remote sensed data. The ISU Digital Agriculture Innovation Team ( www.isudigitalag.org ) consists of professional staff and graduate students who work closely with agricultural industry partners to develop innovative technology solutions for agriculture. The team has a strong innovation record with over 30 patents and licensed technologies.
Example of Duties :
Leads the design and execution of various field research programs that address key research questions.
Supervises field and lab data collection efforts to ensure high data quality.
Manage lab processes, maintain quality of lab equipment, facilitate lab equipment usage between various projects, manage data security and analysis.
Conducts research projects, reviews progress, and evaluates results in the area of precision nozzle application of herbicides and grain sensing technologies.
Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, collaborates in the development of new techniques.
Summarize research data and results for distribution to project sponsors.
Provide management and oversight of undergraduate research assistants.
This is a 2-year term appointment with opportunity for renewal.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
