Job Summary
This position offers a hybrid work schedule which includes telework days and in office days at a DLI office building.
This Workers' Compensation Division (WCD) UX Researcher position:
  • Will create and implement a research strategy that captures the needs of customers, users, and other stakeholders and translates them into actionable improvements of targeted products, offerings and services.
  • Will lead research efforts across a broad range of users, customers, and other stakeholders, and synthesize findings in a way that they can be acted upon by a multi-disciplinary product team.
  • Is highly visible and required to interact with stakeholders representing multiple organizational levels (from senior leadership to line staff) with partners internal and external to the Department of Labor and Industry.
  • Is a recognized leader in representing the experiences of customers and users of the WCD business units and product(s)

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four years of professional experience* conducting qualitative research and data analyses.

*Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience; Master's degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; Bachelor's degree may substitute for one year of experience; Associates degree may substitute for six months of experience.
  • Experience with design and implementation of a research strategy.
  • Experience with synthesizing and translating research findings (including data) into actionable system improvement recommendations.
  • Ability to lead research efforts across a broad range of users, customers and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead and effectively translate user experiences and build empathy with product implementation team to ensure desired outcome.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of Worker's Compensationbusiness processes.
  • Knowledge of customer and user experiences with products and services (e.g., Campus, EDI, etc.).
  • Language skills other than English (Somali, Spanish, Hmong, Karen or ASL).
