Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Walmart is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager of Security Engineering to lead and mentor a team of engineers in enhancing our capabilities in network access authorization, network discovery, and the automation of network security-related tasks. This role, based in Bentonville, AR, is part of the Network Security team and will be critical in ensuring operational excellence in one of the world's largest private enterprises.

What you'll do:

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of network systems engineers, developers, and operations engineers.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture, promoting continuous learning and innovation.
  • Provide strategic direction and technical guidance to the team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.

Network Access and Authorization:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of network access control systems.
  • Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for network access authorization.
  • Ensure robust security measures are in place to protect against unauthorized access and breaches.

Network Discovery:

  • Lead initiatives to enhance network discovery capabilities, ensuring comprehensive visibility of the enterprise network.
  • Implement tools and technologies for effective network mapping, monitoring, and management.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities.

Automation of Network Security Tasks:

  • Drive automation initiatives to streamline and enhance network security operations.
  • Develop and implement automated solutions for network security tasks, such as configuration management, threat detection, and incident response.
  • Ensure scalability and efficiency in network security processes through automation.

Operational Excellence:

  • Maintain a strong focus on operational excellence, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance of network security systems.
  • Monitor and analyze network security metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other security teams and stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive security posture.


What you'll bring:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (CISSP, CISM, etc.) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in network security engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven hands-on experience in network access control, network discovery, and the automation of network security tasks.
  • Strong technical background in network security, including knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and VPNs.
  • Experience with network security tools and technologies, such as NAC solutions, network discovery tools, and automation platforms.
  • Deep understanding of network protocols, architecture, and security best practices.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of complex systems integrations, designing and troubleshooting highly available systems.
  • Unix background is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

2 years’ supervisory experience.
